Moving toward improved care for the patient with ST-elevation myocardial infarction: a mandate for systems of care.

چکیده
Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the preferred reperfusion strategy for the patient with STelevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) regardless of whether they present to a PCI or non–PCI-capable hospital.2,3 These recommendations, based on randomized clinical trials and subsequent meta-analysis and meta-regression of these trials,4,5 are accompanied by a caveat: PCI must be performed in a timely manner. The unfortunate reality in the United States today is that many STEMI patients who are well suited for primary PCI do not receive PCI, or, when they do, it is frequently not within guideline-recommended time standards, a problem in particular for patients who present to hospitals without PCI capability.6

Background: ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI ) are common types of acute coronary syndrome which are associated with the risk factors of age, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Objective: The present study aimed to examine the effects of age on the risk factors and clinical sym...
متن کاملThe effect of oxygen inhalation on cardiac biomarkers in patients presenting with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infraction: A randomized clinical trial
Background: It is assumed giving oxygen to patients with acute myocardial infraction may increase the oxygenation of the ischemic tissue; however, the usefulness of oxygen in these patients has become a challenging topic. Thus, the present study aimed to determine the effect of oxygen inhalation on cardiac biomarkers in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods: This randomized cli...
متن کاملStudy of the Duration, Outcomes, and Related Factors of Reperfusion Therapy in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Background and Objective: One of the most important advancements regarding the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction is the administration of anti-coagulation medicines (e.g., streptokinase). However, it must be noticed that this medicine requires rapid and timely administration. Moreover, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is increasingly used as a method of revascularization...
متن کاملThe Role of Pre-hospital and Hospital Emergency system in Ischemic Time Management of Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients: A Review
According to the latest guidelines, the best intervention to restore blood flow through occluded coronary arteries is angioplasty at a time less than 90 minutes. Delay in timely implementation of reperfusion is one of the key issues in the management of ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). In this review study, papers published from 1999-2019 were used to investigate Role of Pre-hospital...

Background: Ethylene glycol is a toxic alcohol which is used in brake fluid, antifreeze, coolants, preservatives and chemical solvents. Ethylene glycol poisoning usually results in depression of the central nervous system, renal insufficiency and cardiopulmonary compromise, while laboratory findings include metabolic acidosis, increased anion gap, increased osmolar gap and calcium oxalate cryst...
